In the glass, it’s purple… The center is purple, which leads to a purple outer core that fades into purple edges…. I overthink what shades of the color I’m seeing as I put my glass against a bleach-white plate but damnit, it is just plain purple.
The nose on this Washington state Syrah is just bacon and smoke… that’s pretty much it —— and I can’t stop smelling it!
My first taste illustrates why I got bacon on the nose the moment my palate is coated with a fattiness that leads into a picked over fruit plate with nothing left but blueberries and plums. Mid-palate is greasy and the finish is smokey anise.
If you are into wild, gamey, smoky Syrahs like I am ———–> at under 20 bucks, this is YOUR Tuesday night red…….. drink now with something on the grill. Don’t you DARE try overthinking this wine, just enjoy it!
