This 2015 Napa Cab shows a huge black core in the glass that takes forever to fade into purple edges with a pink rose halo…
Right out of the gate, this wine didn’t show much of a nose. It was TIGHT…. After a 2 and a half hour decant, there is a ridiculous amount of sweet oak the lends itself to anise and mushroom floor – now that this little guy has had a minute to open up, he’s a beaut!
In the mouth there is an onslaught of blueberries that lead to a mid-palate of black cherries and blackberries with anise. The finish is mouth coating cocoa tannins that are firm and hang on forever………………………..
The ’15 Scattered Peaks Cab is made in the way of a classic premium Napa Cab. It is tight on opening but once you give it a chance to rest and come to life – DAMN! If you decide to drink now, let it breath for AT LEAST a couple of hours. Otherwise throw it in the cellar and forget about it – it’ll reward your patience!
