In the glass, this Grenache sourced from Bien Nacido Vineyards located in Santa Maria shows a dark purple center that remains inky all the way to the outer-edges.
When I get my nose in the glass I am annihilated by a BIG punch of black cherries, gaminess, and sweet perfume…. Another sniff shows some expected alcohol burn and black licorice…
My first taste unleashes a HUGE – COATING mouthfeel that starts with black fruit and smoked meat ππππ….. The mid-palate brings out just a touch of hidden acidity that drives the wine into a sort of chocolatey core ——–> a chew brings out black and white pepper with a touch of bonfire smoke and a long ending of mild heat that hangs on my tongue well after the fruit is gone…..
Folks, this wine is MASSIVE… I dig it but it is not for the faint of heart! If you only like wines that show refinement, this dirty dog ain’t for you… that said, if you like huge – in your face reds, you’ll GUSH over this wine!!!
At just over 16% alc π₯π₯π₯ pop a cork, stay in for the night, and enjoy y’all!
