Singin’ the blues

What do y’all know about the Blaufrankisch grape variety???

Well…….. Blaufrankisch is a red that originated in Austria where it is the 2nd most planted grape after Zweiglet. It’s a late ripening variety that is grown across Central Europe but also has a small presence in the US ——-> There’s waaaaaaay more to the Blaufrankisch story but I’ll let you google it and spare you my ramblings……..

In the glass, this Blaufrankisch from Washington State shows a plumb center that gives way to violet edges and a translucent halo……

On the nose, there is a waft of Pipe tobacco, some floral perfume, and red-raspberries…..

When I give this guy a taste I’m lovin’ the ripe blueberry start that heads into a black fruit and red currant sorta thing ———–> A chew and a swish opens the wine up with a cranberry mid-palate and a smooth, mocha and vanilla finish that begs for another gulp…. 👌🍷👌🍷👌

All in all, y’all – this is a fun and easy drinker that can be enjoyed any night of the week with anything from BBQ to pasta to pizza…. It’ll only set you back around $15 bucks so you should have enough left over that RedBox DVD your wife sent you out for….. Just don’t forget to return it – that recurring charge is a NIGHTMARE!!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
