In the glass, this Paso Robles Petite Sirah has a HUGE black center with staining purple edges and an electric purple halo…
A sniff shows sweet red fruit and sharp cranberry acid…. When I revisit there’s a touch of raisin(y) dried fruit showing this lil guys age a bit ———-> Happily, all of these components together make for a smile….
The palate has a plummy start that gives way to blueberries and dried prunes…. When I enter into the second half of this guy, my tongue is wrapped by thin cottony tannins that move into notes of raisins and cherry cola ———> The finish has well intentions but just kinda falls flat for no fault of the wine itself as much of its age….
I’m a BIG fan of Imagery wines and here’s a Petite Sirah I stumbled upon in the cellar ————-> If you’ve got any of these on hand you’d better drink up…. This guy was FAR from unpleasant but at 7 years young it’s not getting any better!
