In the glass this Yorkville Highlands Mourvèdre shows a dark plum core with red lipstick edges surrounded by a thick electric purple halo….
A sniff is a face full of boysenberries with a vegetal kick that quickly takes a backseat to a welcoming white pepper spice ———-> A revisit is rich and tight with rhubarb pie and cedar wood and I’M IN LOVE….
The start of the palate is LOADED with calamata olives and more of the unmistakeable rhubarb pie I got on the nose before blackberries and blueberry tart roll into town and stay for a while ————> A chew and swish opens up a simple syrup soaked cranberry mid-palate before the ending shines bright with a bing cherry pop that’s quickly mellowed by a smooth and silky tannic finish that coats my tongue with raspberry jam slathered on smoked pork butt and I’m like WHOA….
Welllll ——–> I’ll be damned if this isn’t one of the best domestic Mourvèdres I’ve had in a looooooooooong time!!! While there’s so much delicious fruit packed into this guy there’s also a beautiful balance of spicy meatiness and a sexy mouthfeel ————-> I promise that by the end of your sip, you’ll be left blushing…. 🎧🎧🎧 Listen to this wine with something that’s got pop & soul like The Jackson 5 – I Want You Back
