Don’t judge a book by its cover… 🎧 drink 2 The White Stripes

In the glass this Monterey Petite Sirah has a GIGANTIC ink blotter core surrounded by staining, electric purple edges….

The nose shows wet cedar before blackberries and white pepper spice stumble into the room ———-> Another sniff unleashes a gamey note that’s got me crushing a bit….

A taste starts weighty with a black cherry and sugared cranberry purée before taking a nosedive into something a little more seductive with bacon grease that piggy backs blueberries and black plums…. The mid-palate opens up with a bit of salinity before sharp, coating tannins pave the way for some raisin(y) fruit before a long and relatively simplistic blackberry ending….

Those of you in the back row will notice that I rarely comment on wine labels but c’mon ———–> this one is just plain hideous…. That said, it’s what’s inside the bottle that counts and this Petite Sirah from Barra of Mendocino is big and bold and SURE to warm you up as the weather cools down!!!! 🎧🎧🎧 Listen to this wine with something that’s gotta bit of weight behind it like The White Stripes – Icky Thump
